ecobee built its reputation on thermostats that learn a household’s rhythm. A short-term rental doesn’t have one — occupancy is whatever the booking calendar says, full this weekend and empty until Thursday. Any schedule you program by hand is right for one week and wrong for the next, so most hosts end up choosing between paying to condition an empty house and greeting guests with a cold one.

ProhostAI resolves that by driving the ecobee from the reservations themselves. Each listing gets a climate schedule with three phases: eco setpoints while the place is vacant, a pre-arrival phase that starts a lead time before check-in so the home is comfortable when guests walk in, and occupied settings for the stay itself.

The stay itself gets guardrails that work in both directions. You set a minimum and maximum for the listing: if a guest cranks the wall unit past them, the setpoint is pushed back inside your limits automatically, and if you let guests adjust the temperature from their digital guidebook, those requests are clamped to the same range. No awkward message, no surprise on the utility bill.

Models such as the ecobee SmartThermostat family connect through the same ecobee account you already use, with no hub and no API key. Thermostats sync in with their connection status, and you assign each one to its listing like any other device.

Once your ecobee account is connected and each thermostat is assigned to a listing, this runs on its own:

Climate control

• Eco mode the moment a stay ends After checkout the listing drops to your away setpoints, so empty nights stop being conditioned like occupied ones.
• Comfortable by the time they arrive The pre-arrival phase starts a lead you choose — an hour before check-in by default — so the home reaches your comfort setpoint before the guest reaches the door. "Bring the living room to 72 an hour before every check-in."
• Min/max limits guests can’t escape If someone sets the ecobee past your configured range, ProhostAI pushes the setpoint back inside it automatically.
• Adjustable from the guest guidebook If you enable it, guests change the temperature right from their digital guidebook — requests are rate-limited and clamped to your min/max.

Automation

• Schedules built from reservations Phases flip on the actual booking dates — no manual toggling on turnover day, and date changes are picked up with the reservation.
• A schedule per listing A ski cabin and a city condo don’t want the same setpoints. Each listing carries its own eco, pre-arrival and occupied settings, applied to the thermostats assigned to it.
• Status you can see Each connected ecobee shows up as a device with its connection status, so a dropped thermostat is visible before it becomes a guest complaint.

Connecting ecobee takes a few minutes and happens entirely in the browser:

1. In ProhostAI, open Smart Devices and choose Connect account.
2. Pick ecobee in the secure connection window and sign in with your ecobee account credentials.
3. Your thermostats sync in automatically, each with its connection status.
4. Assign each thermostat to its listing.
5. Set the listing’s climate schedule — eco, pre-arrival and occupied phases plus min/max limits — and it runs from the next reservation on.
